I hope everyone is enjoying the fall. We have been very busy here recovering from the busy “back to school” season.
Here are some of the new things we added to Manage It (MI) and Get It Done (GID) to help make you more productive:
- Smart Parse for Quick Add and Email (MI + GID)
- Import from spreadsheet (MI + GID)
- Export creation date (MI + GID)
- Quickly add tags (MI + GID)
- More effort options (MI + GID)
- Widen the left nav and added tooltips (GID)
- Added “No Area” area (GID)
- Move completed to trash (GID)
- Fixed a number of bugs
- Push notifications for Get It Done iOS and Mac OSX
Here is more detail about the 2 new features we are most excited about.
Smart Parse for Quick Add and Email (MI + GID)
The new feature we are most excited about is the ability for you to add tags, project, due dates, and person assignments quickly through the “add task” field (Quick Add) or through email.
Just type in something like “Take out the garbage !tomorrow” into the subject of an email or in the Quick Add field in the app and we will create the task “Take out the garbage” with a due date of tomorrow. Here are more things you can do:

Tip for GID users: Projects belong to Areas. So if you create a project called ‘Home’ in your ‘Home’ Area, you can send your tasks to ‘@home’ and it will be set to the correct Area.
Import from spreadsheet (MI + GID)
A highly requested feature was for you to be able to import spreadsheets of tasks into the app. We recently added this to both Get It Done and Manage It apps. We hope this will save you time when importing a large number of tasks into the app.
