I hope everyone is enjoying the fall. We have been very busy here recovering from the busy “back to school” season.
- Smart Parse for Quick Add and Email (MI + GID)
- Import from spreadsheet (MI + GID)
- Export creation date (MI + GID)
- Quickly add tags (MI + GID)
- More effort options (MI + GID)
- Widen the left nav and added tooltips (GID)
- Added “No Area” area (GID)
- Move completed to trash (GID)
- Fixed a number of bugs
- Push notifications for Get It Done iOS and Mac OSX
Here is more detail about the 2 new features we are most excited about.
The new feature we are most excited about is the ability for you to add tags, project, due dates, and person assignments quickly through the “add task” field (Quick Add) or through email.
Just type in something like “Take out the garbage !tomorrow” into the subject of an email or in the Quick Add field in the app and we will create the task “Take out the garbage” with a due date of tomorrow. Here are more things you can do:
|GID|| Project (looks for complete match and case insensitive)
||% ||Take out the garbage %Personal
|GID+MI||Focus or People (looks for whole word match)
Searches in the following order:
||Take out the garbage @Today
Take out the garbage @bob
Take out the garbage @email@example.com
|GID|| Tag (looks for complete match and case insensitive)
||# ||Take out the garbage #high #home
Take out the garbage #high priority
|GID+MI||Due Date (accepts dd/dd/dddd, dd/dd, +[num]day, today, tomorrow, yesterday, next week)
||Take out the garbage !8/26/2017 (dd/mm/yyyy works if UK date setting is set)
Take out the garbage !8/26
Take out the garbage !today
Take out the garbage !tomorrow
Take out the garbage !nextweek
Take out the garbage !friday
Take out the garbage !+2 days
Take out the garbage !+2weeks
Take out the garbage !+2 years
Tip for GID users: Projects belong to Areas. So if you create a project called ‘Home’ in your ‘Home’ Area, you can send your tasks to ‘@home’ and it will be set to the correct Area.
A highly requested feature was for you to be able to import spreadsheets of tasks into the app. We recently added this to both Get It Done and Manage It apps. We hope this will save you time when importing a large number of tasks into the app.
Hopefully we made you just a little more productive this month. As always, please send any questions or comments our way.
